As part of the university’s risk management program for foreign travel, the university provides coverage to faculty, staff and students traveling outside of the United States on university sponsored trips. Examples of university sponsored trips include: study abroad programs, research travel for degree programs, conferences, or other university business. Coverage for students only applies to education activities sponsored by the university. For questions on coverage or the foreign travel insurance program, please contact Risk Management.
The foreign travel insurance program consists of three types of coverages: Travel Accident & Sickness, Foreign General Liability and Excess Automobile Liability (only applies to faculty and staff). However, before coverage can be effective for a university sponsored trip, all faculty, staff and students must register their travel, in accordance with UCF Policy 3-110, by clicking on the following links. Please note that the link takes you to the UCF Study Abroad website, where you will select the link for either faculty and staff or students. Coverage will NOT be effective until the trip is registered. Participants in a UCF Study Abroad program do not need to register as they are already in the system from when they registered for the UCF Study Abroad program.
To assist in your international travel registration, UCF Global has developed the following guides:
Travel Accident & Sickness
The Travel Accident & Sickness policy provides coverage for (1) medical expenses, excluding routine care, (2) evacuation for emergency medical, military or political unrest, and natural disasters, (3) repatriation of remains, and (4) accidental death and dismemberment benefit. For more information, click here.
Foreign General Liability
The Foreign General Liability policy provides coverage for bodily injury, property damage, damage to premises rented, and personal and advertising injury to faculty, staff and students. For more information, click here.
Excess Automobile Liability
The Excess Automobile Liability policy provides excess coverage for bodily injury or property damage resulting from the use of an automobile or caused by an automobile to faculty and staff. For more information, click here.
