We are excited to bring you this second edition of our e-newsletter, the IntegrityStar. We received some very positive feedback to our first edition, and we hope that you find this edition as informative and enjoyable to read.

A big thank you to all employees who took the time to participate and complete the Compliance and Ethics Culture Survey distributed in March. We received a very high response rate, which tells us that employees are interested in this topic and eager to share their thoughts. What impressed us most, however, was what employees conveyed in their responses. Eighty-five percent stated that they had not experienced or observed a violation of laws, regulations, or university policies or regulations within the last 12 months. Even better, 95% stated that they were not asked to bend, break, or circumvent laws, regulations, or university policies or regulations. These are very impressive statistics. We still have some things to work on, however, and we provide some of those details in this edition. Please know that we read every single comment written by employees and we want to reassure you all that we are committed to improving our compliance and ethical culture here at UCF. Many thanks also to our colleagues in the Operational Excellence and Assessment Support (OEAS) team for their assistance with this survey.

This edition also highlights the UCF 2-700 Reporting Misconduct and Protection from Retaliation Policy. Our goal is to expand awareness of the policy, educate employees on the subtle forms of retaliation, and reconfirm our commitment to protect employees from retaliation when they make good faith reports of misconduct or participate in an investigation. We also include a short video and cartoon on retaliation.

As always, if you have suggestions for future topics, please send them to complianceandethics@ucf.edu.
