Since 2011, Brian Butkus has held the position of laboratory safety coordinator in UCF’s Environmental Health and Safety Department. Over the years, Brian has had to step into the role of interim Bio-Safety Officer on numerous occasions, taking on additional responsibilities above those of his regular duties. On each occasion, Brian successfully handled both roles, with professionalism and expertise, demonstrating his talent and ethical leadership.

In addition to his outstanding efforts in safety and compliance, Brian took on an additional project during his 2015-16 Leadership Enhancement Program, where he conducted research into employee codes of conduct. His work helped to inform the University Compliance, Ethics, and Risk office’s development of the first UCF Employee Code of Conduct, due for release this fall.

We take this opportunity to acknowledge Brian for all of his outstanding efforts in safety and compliance, and to thank him for being an excellent compliance partner.
