Announcing the UCF Employee Code of Conduct!
University Compliance, Ethics, and Risk is very pleased to announce the UCF Employee Code of Conduct now available online at the footer of each page.
There are many laws, regulations, UCF policies, and ethical standards that we, as employees, are already expected to follow. The purpose of the UCF Employee Code of Conduct is to provide one guiding document that highlights many of these requirements and that can serve as a resource for employees when faced with questions or ethical dilemmas.
All employees are required to follow the UCF Employee Code of Conduct. Online training is available to assist employees in becoming familiar with the provisions of the Code of Conduct.
UCF IntegrityLine Cases on Civility
On September 29, 2014, the UCF IntegrityLine became available to employees as one option for reporting suspected or actual misconduct or ethical concerns. From October 1, 2015, to September 30, 2016, the UCF IntegrityLine received 77 reports of suspected or actual misconduct or ethical concerns. The types of cases received through the IntegrityLine spanned a range of more than 20 specific topics including financial, safety, and human resources related issues. The highest number of reports in a single category during that period were 13 reports categorized as Offensive or Inappropriate Communication, representing 16.9% of all cases.
Celebrate Compliance and Ethics Week
Compliance and Ethics Week is celebrated nationally the first full week of November each year. During November 6-9, 2017, University Compliance, Ethics, and Risk will schedule activities to raise awareness about compliance and ethics topics and the role of our office. In order to learn more about compliance and ethics topics and for a chance to win prizes, employees can participate in our word scramble.
The word scramble will be handed out at our table during the October 27 Benefits Fair and posted on our website. Please see News & Updates on the main page of our website to access the word scramble which begins on Monday, November 6. Employees who submit a completed and correct word scramble to our complianceandethics@ucf.edu email account will be eligible to win a prize. The last entry will be accepted on Thursday, November 9. We hope to recognize some of our winners in our next IntegrityStar edition.
A message fromRhonda L. Bishop
We are so excited to share with you in this sixth edition of the IntegrityStar, the long awaited UCF Employee Code of Conduct. I have to say that this project has been a labor of love for my office. It took years to develop as we collaborated with our compliance partners and executive leadership, but we believe that the work and the wait were worth it. We achieved our goal in capturing the most important UCF regulations, policies, and procedures in one place, and providing a guiding document that employees can use to navigate the rules and the ethical hurdles that are inevitable in any workplace.
In the Spotlight
In this edition of the IntegrityStar, we want to highlight two very important research compliance initiatives.
Recognition
We appreciate all of the Conflict of Interest Coordinators, but a few stand out each year.
New Policies
Read about the new or updated UCF policies and regulations that were recently approved.
