Alison Cares, PhD is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology in the College of Sciences. She has worked to stop violence against women for over 20 years, first in community outreach and education for a sexual assault and domestic violence services agency, and then as a researcher. She helped the Office of Institutional Equity (OIE) draft Title IX FAQs and model syllabus language for the Violence Against Women (VAW) Cluster faculty, as well as other faculty, which also appears as a resource on the Let’s Be Clear website. Alison also worked with OIE to write and adopt guidance on reporting Title IX related disclosures made by students applying for positions within the VAW Cluster or through written assignments. We commend Dr. Cares for her commitment to the prevention of violence against women, for her consistent support of the work accomplished by OIE, and for her contributions to the Title IX Program at UCF.
